“I am a piper who lives on a farm”: A Book With A Real Life Twist

Some of you may have seen my post last week about this book. What you may not know is that this book has personal meaning. Darron Smith is my good friend of many years and brother-in-law. He wrote a poem years ago about being a farmer who plays the bagpipes. Later with the inspiration and help of others he made it into a children’s book.

One of the great things I love about this book is the fact that Darron does actually play the bagpipes. He not only plays, but plays well and even took third place in a solo piping competition in Utah. He learned from professional piper Dennis McMaster who later happened to become his father-in-law.

In addition to playing the bagpipes he is also a farmer in Tennessee on a beautiful eighteen acer lot with two ponds, a fresh water spring, dozens of berry bushes with a few animals. He has lived his dreams with his wife Cait and now has a book that has a special place not only in his heart but in the hearts of those who know him. If you are wondering what to get for your children this coming year that will be a fun read. I recommend ordering this book from the Barnes and Noble link below.

Merry Christmas

I'm a family man that after many years of working in candy, marketing and finance have left it all to help support my family at home. With the help of my amazing wife Shannon, I am able stay home and raise my two sons Christian and Gavin along with my daughter Addison. This website and blog has allowed me to share many of my great experiences and knowledge through the eyes of a stay at home dad.
